Robert D. Turner, age 94, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, January 15, 2021. Robert was born on January 18, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge in Altoona. Some of his hobbies and interests included watching football, racing, fishing, and building model cars. Above everything, he took great pride in taking care of his yard and was known for having the best manicured lawn on the block.

Those left to cherish is memory include his loving children, Chris (Carrolyn) Turner, Becky (Ron) Booth, and Michael Turner; grandchildren, Christy (Matt) Sheets, Jenny Townes, Chad Turner, Taylor Turner, and Erika (Tyler) Frantz; step-grandchildren, Fran Stroud, Angela Riggs, and Michael (Jennifer) Stroud; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Helen; and siblings, Bill, Vern, Suzie and Betty.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street, Des Moines.
