Roberta Gardner

Roberta Jean Gardner, 100, passed away on January 11, 2021 from COVID-19. She was born in Bloomfield, Iowa on November 27, 1920 to Henry Roy and Edith Sommer.

Roberta graduated from AIB College of Business and was a book keeper for many years, a stay-at-home mother who also worked in the home; babysitting and typing for a Court Reporter, while raising her two children. She had a green thumb and loved her flower and vegetable gardens.

She married Willard Wesley Gardner on June 16, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa. Roberta celebrated 33 years of marriage until Willard’s passing in 1984.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her son James Gardner who passed away April 22, 2020.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Gardner-Goos, and husband Richard Goos of Sunrise Beach, Missouri.

A graveside service will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
