Stasia “Ann” Allen, was born on November 27, 1948 and passed away on November 29, 2020, two days after her 72nd birthday. Her daughter Stasey and grandson Joey spent her last days with her.
Ann was born in Spencer, Iowa and moved to West Des Moines when she was 12 years old. She attended Sacred Heart grade school and graduated from St. Josephs Academy in Des Moines in 1967.
Ann loved living in the country, where she could pursue her passions involving animals, vegetable and flower gardening, and cooking.
She was an avid animal lover and bred Quarterhorses for many years. She also had many feline and canine companions, including her little dog, Zoey, who was her constant friend.
Ann loved to cook. And by all family accounts, she was exceptionally talented. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday.
Ann was devoted to her family. For several years, Ann’s mother lived with their family, helping to raise Ann’s daughter Stasey. Ann had a special bond with her only grandson, Joey.
Ann was preceded in death by her father and mother, Victor and Anastasia Alexander, her first husband, William Whitaker, and her second husband, Edwin Allen.
Ann is survived by her daughter Stasey Suzanne Potts (Whitaker), grandson, Joseph Frank (Melissa) Potts, and great granddaughter, Harper Potts. She is survived by two brothers, Tim (Sandy) Alexander and Mike Alexander.
A celebration of Ann’s life will take place in September at a date to be determined.
