Service Details

Nancy Jo Cox, 76, passed away October 15, 2020 at Taylor House Hospice.

Nancy was born September 7, 1944 in Humeston, Iowa to Ivan and Elaine Frye. She made a home for her family in Norwalk, Iowa for 49 years. Spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids was her greatest joy.

Traveling was her favorite past-time. Whether it was making the short road trip to Leon, Iowa to worship with family and friends at Calvary Baptist Church; or vacation trips to Texas to visit her daughter’s family, or the Ozarks to visit her brother and sister, she loved to hop in the car and go. For many years, Nancy was always happy to travel to custom car shows too, where she was able to catch up with the good friends that she made at these events. She was also thrilled to see so much of the country while riding along with her husband in his semi.

Nancy went to many stock car races in her life, where she cheered the drivers and socialized in the stands with the close friends that she made. More recently she had the most fun while watching her grandson, Brandon, race; and was looking forward to getting to see her grandson, Garrett, racing too. Grandma was the best cheerleader for all of the grandkids and great-grandkids when she watched them participate in various sports and activities.

Nancy enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Society, and remained a fun loving, social person who enjoyed talking on the phone, shopping for antiques, going out to eat and keeping in touch via facebook. Nancy looked forward to watching her “stories”, crime shows and Cyclone basketball games. She had a life-long love of reading and loved to sit on the front porch swing with her dog, drinking coffee with her book.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Leonard; daughters, Jamie (Larry) Loffredo and Danielle (Josh) Glover; grandchildren, Brandon (Kelsey) Cox, Garrett Croy, Devan and Noah Loffredo, Kollin Luce, Addie, Cali and Cooper Glover; great-grandchildren, Kale and Owen Cox; sister, Debi (Mark) Mashek; brother, Dave (Yvette) West; as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Stacy Jo Cox-Croy.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Leon Cemetery in Leon, Iowa followed by a time of fellowship at Calvary Baptist Church, 1302 NE Poplar Street in Leon.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor House Hospice in loving memory of Nancy.
