Evelyn Marie Tolkan

Evelyn Marie Tolkan, 76, passed away on August 2, 2020, surrounded by loved ones at the home where she raised her family. She was born on May 15, 1944, in Colesburg, Iowa, to Gerald and Hazel (Cole) Welsh.

Evelyn was a member of Sheridan Park United Methodist Church and Otto Field American Legion Auxiliary Unit 415. Over the years she worked as a CNA at New Oaks Care Center and as a homemaker. In her spare time she enjoyed ceramics.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Ronda Berry, Michelle Tolkan, and Stephanie Tolkan (Jeremy Musso); grandchildren, Jesse (Alyson) Millard, Kaden Musso, and Kane Musso; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Alexis, and Caitlin; her siblings, Karen Ingles, Joan Morrill, Maude Klages, and Gerald Welsh (Candy Brockmeyer). She is also survived by her many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as other loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Ronald Tolkan; son, Randy Tolkan; sister, Lillian McNeill; and son-in-law, Michael Berry.

Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m., with a service at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
