Kevin C. Simbro

Kevin Charles Simbro, age 57, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home in Des Moines.

Kevin was born September 4, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ray Jr. and Alvetta “Toni” Simbro. He was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. Kevin was a self-employed roofer and a very hard worker. Family meant everything to him. He had a very special relationship with his mom and would refer to her as his best friend. Kevin was a sports fan and loved watching his daughter, Ashley’s ballgames and fishing with his son, Thomas. He loved his grandchildren above all. Kevin had a funny personality and a great sense of humor. He loved brain teasers and sharing jokes with friends. He was an avid football fan and especially liked watching the Cincinnati Bengals, even though they are terrible, and was lovingly referred to as “Santa Claus” by his friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Matt) Ricke; grandchildren, Emma and Louis Ricke; son, Thomas Simbro; siblings, Vicky Simbro, Cathy (Michael) Priest, Connie Ashby, and George Simbro; and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Toni Simbro; brother, August Simbro; and his granddaughter, Sterling Simbro.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. There will be a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. with refreshments to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
