We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Mary Rose Clark, 78, of Altoona, IA. She passed at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, IA from unknown causes on Thursday, June 18, 2020. Mary was born on March 6, 1942 in Fort Dodge, IA to Herman and Alma (Meyer) Gerdes. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, spending time outdoors, attending and cheering on her children's at their sporting events, and sewing.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Alma Gerdes; her husband, Ralph Clark; and her son, Shawn Clark. She is survived by her children, Chad Clark of Des Moines and Shannon Jacobs (Timothy Jacobs) of RAF Mildenhall, UK; her grandchildren, Carley, Gabrielle, and Jesse; her brother and sister in law, Roy and Stella Clark; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020 in the chapel at Merle Hay Funeral Home, followed by inurnment in the Chapel Hill Gardens mausoleum.

I am so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. She and I started out together in country school and graduated together in 1960. I have been trying to locate her for the past couple of years. I am sorry I could not find her. She was a good friend of mine. I can now quit looking for her.

I am so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. She was my neighbor for many many years. She loved when she worked at the school for many years and then at Walmart. Rest in peace Mary.
