Jacilyn Siepmann

Jacilyn Joan (Starnes) Siepmann passed away on March 24, 2020 she was 89 years old.

Jacilyn was born on May 9, 1930 in Laurel, Iowa to Harold and Ann Starnes. Jacilyn married Kenneth Siepmann on July 16, 1947.

The early years of their marriage were spent in Alameda, CA where Kenneth was serving in the United States Coast Guard. While in CA they began to build their life together, raising 2 children. In 1955 Kenneth was discharged from the service and they returned to Iowa. Soon after their return, Kenneth began a job at Firestone and years later Jacilyn began working at Boesen’s Florist in the Greenhouse. She worked there for several years before retiring.

Jackie loved working the daily crossword puzzles, but was really an avid sports fan, and cheered on both the Cyclones and Hawkeyes with equal enthusiasm. Her love for sports continued to live on through her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Through the years it was unusual if the grandkids didn’t see Grandma Jackie in the stands cheering them on....no matter what the weather!

Jackie did not know a stranger and her raspy laugh, sense of humor and wit were always present. She was fun, compassionate and protective of her family. She also wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and share her opinions. She could best be described as Sweet and Spicy! We will so miss her laughter, smile and hugs!

Jackie is survived by her daughter Trisha Putney (Dan), Daughter-in-law (Cyndi); Grandchildren Lora Buske (Steve), Chris Buske (Lynn), Taylor Putney, Courtney Myers (Eric), Scott Siepmann (Abby), Matt Siepmann; Great Grandchildren Alice, Ilana, Sebastian, Cale, Kiera, Quinn, Stella, Michael & Macy and due in June - Abel. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth & son Michael.
