Mary Lou Harston, age 62, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Mercy Hospital. She was born the daughter of Vernard and Ruthie Williams on August 26, 1957 in McCrory, Arkansas. Mary Lou graduated from McCrory High School in 1975. She worked as a dietary aid at 3801 Grand Assisted Senior Living in Des Moines. Mary Lou enjoyed laughing, listening to music, cooking, fishing and spending time with her dog, Deeog Harston. Above everything, she loved and cherished time spent with her family.

She will be deeply missed by her loving children, Tim (Kelli) Taylor, Andre Taylor, Shamekia Harston and Kadashia Harston; grandchildren, Nikki Nall, Shannon Wease, Ashley Sanders, LaShawn Sanders, Shaveya Taylor, Asia Taylor, Tim Taylor, Jr., Timekia Taylor, Shamekia James II, Cardell James III, and Kardiasia James; Nikyjah, Javon, Dereon, Lyrik, Linda, Javeon, Serenity, James, Journey, Devonte and Aria; siblings, John Ward, Sharon Williams, Shirley Bolden, Emma Williams, Lawerance Williams, Paul Williams, Louise Williams and Vernell Williams; and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Walter Jr., Patricia Williams, Margaret Ruth, Betty Ann Williams, Albert Williams, Jean Williams, and Eldridge Williams.

Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2020 at Ding Darling Shelter Park, 2100 Saylor Rd, Des Moines, IA 50313.
