Marilyn Esther Van Haaften

Marilyn Esther Van Haaften, 83, died peacefully at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on February 16, 2020. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 2:00 pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 1001 S. James Street, in Grimes, IA.

Marilyn was born in Wilmar, Minnesota, daughter of Elmer and Minnie Borr on August 17, 1936. She was a friend of many, a child of God, and a sender of cards. Marilyn was a gifted pianist and enjoyed collecting sheet music. It was a pleasure and delight to hear her work her magic on the keys. Marilyn also loved flowers, plants and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Teresa, Donald, Randall and Gary; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ruth Otto. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dean.
