Ronald Clinton Maggard was born December 9, 1946 in Wichita, KS to Clifford and Dorothy (Coffman) Maggard. He grew up on a farm in Creston, Iowa, where he graduated from Creston High School. On February 25, 1967 he married Linda Harper and they were blessed with two daughters, Kimberly and Michele. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, and was honorably discharged in 1970. He was a loyal member of the Altoona American Legion.

During his working years, he owned Ronald’s Auctioneering Service, and worked for Reilly Construction, Crouse Cartage Company, and M & M Cartage, Inc. His hobbies included tinkering on cars, and working on old Jeeps and snow plows. He loved people and enjoyed entertaining guests. In his younger years, he enjoyed good times with great music and a few drinks along the California coast with his cousin, Bob Emigh. Ron enjoyed parking cars during the Iowa State Fair and watching NASCAR racing. He loved his family and friends and spent as much time with them as possible. Some of his favorite pastimes were going out to dinner and going to casinos. He also enjoyed listening to a variety of music. He loved his cat, Lucy “LuLu” and spending time with his special friend, Pam and her family.

Ron passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the age of 72.

He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Maggard and Michele Maggard, both of Des Moines, cousin, Bob Emigh of California, and many more cousins and family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Dorothy Maggard and the mother of his children, Linda.

There will be a memorial service with military honors at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. A celebration of life will follow at the Veterans Reception Center, 910 Main Street, Van Meter.
