Violet Irene Van Horn, 84, passed away on August 8, 2019, at Granger Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 19, 1935 to Henry and Hazel Lehman.
Violet loved crafts, especially beading. She was a very colorful and kind hearted person and cared for everyone she knew.
Violet is survived by her son, John (Paula) Van Horn; siblings, Evelyn (Kenny) Hackett, David (Bev) Lehman and Ronald (Sharon) Lehman; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded by her husband, James Van Horn; her parents; sisters, Pauline Lehman and Marguerite Lehman; brothers, Robert Lehman, Gene Lehman, Donald Lehman and Kenneth Lehman.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.

Dear John,
We are so sorry for the loss of your mother and of Aunt Paula! All within one week. You must be totally devastated. We are praying for you, that God will help and comfort you during this extremely difficult time. Life is so fragile. We had a great time with you and Aunt Paula and the family on the 4th of July. We will miss her so much, but we grieve with the hope of seeing her again in the resurrection when Jesus returns.
