Gary Millang

Gary L. Millang, 65, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at his home in Des Moines.

Gary was born August 20, 1953 in Webster City, Iowa to Harlan and Janet (Williams) Millang. He worked as a golf superintendent, lastly for Sleepy Hollow. Gary was an avid racing fan. He loved NASCAR and held season tickets to the Iowa Speedway since its opening. Gary enjoyed bicycling and participated in RAGBRAI numerous times. His greatest joy were his grandkids and he will be lovingly remembered as the “silly” grandpa.

He is survived by his children, Eric Millang, Emily Brown, Amanda (Dustin) Robben, Daniel (Tamara) Enfield, and Katie Millang (Nick Neff); grandchildren, Connor and Bodi Brown, Noah and Braxton Robben, Kylie Valdez, and Braxton Troxell; siblings, Dennis (Donna) Millang, Marlene Millang, and Karlene Millang; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Janet Millang; sister, Sandra Millang; and his dog, Titian.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, also at Hamilton’s, and will be followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery in Story City, Iowa.
