Janice Madden

Janice Elceemae Madden, 84, passed away January 20, 2019, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born July 16, 1934, in Trenton, Missouri, to Benjamin and Irene Beasley.

Janice was proud to be a homemaker; dedicating her time and talents to her family and home. She also worked part-time at Glen’s Rod and Reel in Des Moines for many years.

Janice was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for numerous years and was a 70-year member of Union Park United Methodist Church.

Janice is survived by her children, Fred (Debbie) Madden, Joan (Steve) McWilliams, and Jean (Roark) Horn; grandchildren, Shannon (Jon) Erb, Megan Horn, James Horn, and Steven McWilliams, Jr.; many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and brothers, Ronald (Alleyne) Beasley, Ben (Evelyn) Beasley, and Tom (JoAnne) Beasley.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
