Norma Hay

Norma June Hay, 93, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018. She was born June 28, 1925 to Herman and Bonnie (Silcott) Hart.

Norma had the wonderful opportunity to stay home to raise her children and she cherished every moment that continued on with the joys of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long time member of the Bondurant Christian Church and read the newspaper faithfully each day. Norma was an amazing baker who specialized in making pie for her family.

Norma was blessed with four children, Richard (Louise) Hay, Janet (Vic) Vandehaar, Tommie (Robin) Hay, and Jane (Jeff) Heaberlin; grandchildren, Robyn Hay, Allison Hay, Merideth Hay, Evan (Katelyn Stoss) Hay, Andrea (Mitchell) Madurski, Jill (Ryan) Hansen, Holly (Chris) Fleshner, Ty Vandehaar, Jenna Topliff, Eric Hay, Chad (Lindsey) Hay, Joseph Hay, Jeffrey (Karla) Heaberlin, and Jayme (Joseph) Fry; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Bondurant cemetery following the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or The Pony Express/Easter Seals.

The family would like to thank everyone at Prairie Vista Village in Altoona for the wonderful care she received since July 4, 2014.
