Cleo Weeks, age 86, passed away peacefully Friday, November 2, 2018, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown with his family by his side.

Cleo was born August 17, 1932 in Audubon, Iowa to Earl Michael Weeks and Susan Louise (Gerber) Weeks. Cleo was a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, during which time he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was released from active military service and went on to complete eight years in the Army Reserves. Cleo was employed by Firestone for 29 years until his retirement in 1993. His hobbies included golf, the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Green Bay Packers. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus of Christ the King, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Cleo is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Shirley Ann (Brooks) Weeks; his children, Craig Weeks of Peoria, AZ, Christine Kuhns of Des Moines, IA, Sheri (Phil) Wysocki of Campbell, CA; grandsons, Mitchell, Dylan, Jason, Joshua; siblings; Twilla Hoffman of Carroll, IA, Dale (Roberta) Weeks of Seymour, IA; sister-in-law Phyllis Weeks; brother-in-law Robert Broich; and many other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Susan Weeks; sister Edra; brothers, Maurice, Richard, Harold and Ronald; brother-in-law, Maurice Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Carole Weeks, Edna Weeks and Donna Weeks.

Services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, Des Moines on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Cleo will be laid to rest with military honors at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA at 2:00 p.m. following the funeral services.
