Darlene Ione Stewart Krueger, 89, passed away October 31, 2018 in Des Moines, Iowa from Alzheimer’s.

Darlene was born on July 31, 1929 to Loretta and Herschel Morgan and grew up on her parent’s farm in Boone, IA. She moved to Des Moines at the age of 18 where she was employed as an elevator operator for Younkers department store. While living in Des Moines, she met and married David Charles Stewart who was a widower with 4 small children. From this union, Darlene and David had two daughters. After David’s death in 1969, Darlene met and married her second husband, Howard Lee Krueger and moved to Missouri.

Darlene loved the Lord and was an active member of her church both in IA and MO. She lived a simple life and was most happy when she was crocheting, camping, listening to country music or playing bingo. Darlene never shied away from hard work and was a loyal friend to many. She was known for the peanut brittle that she made at every Christmas holiday. Darlene spent the last 10 years of her life at Trinity Center of Luther Park in Des Moines.

Darlene is survived by her daughters and step-daughters; Sandra Noble, Linda (David) Busch, Fay (Kenneth) Winebrenner, Shirley (Ronald) Williams and Sharon (Jerry) Woods; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, her sister, Doris Housely and brother, Eldon Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husbands; David Stewart and Howard Krueger, step-son David Stewart Jr, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines, IA on November 2, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and the family would like to thank the Trinity Center Staff who cared for Darlene over that past several years.

A celebration of life will take place following the funeral at the home of her daughter, Sandra Noble.
