Service Details

Alexandria “Allie” Brooks received her angel wings August 2, 2018, after a brave fight against Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). She was born May 7, 2013, in Des Moines, to her loving parents, Ashley and Korey.

Allie was a girly girl through and through. You would always see Allie with a smile on her face wearing her princess dress of the day. She loved Peppa Pig, Minnie Mouse, posing for the camera, swimming, playing hide-and-seek, water balloons, and taking care of her baby dolls while cooking in her kitchen. You could always find her eating at “Pie City.”

Allie will be remembered for her contagious personality, her goofiness, and sass. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Allie is survived by her mommy and daddy, Ashley and Korey; big sister, Bella; little brother, Jamison; grandparents, Brad and Sheryl Brooks; her great-grandmas, Janet Hartnett and LeAnn Hurlbut; great-grandpa, Bill Moore; uncles, Kolin Brooks and Kyle Brooks; aunt, Megan Moore; as well as other loving family and an entire community of supporters that Allie was able to bring together through continued awareness of childhood cancer.

She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Billy Moore and great-grandpas, Donald Hartnett and Donald Hurlbut.

A celebration of Allie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday evening at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The family encourages guests to wear bright colors and invite children to wear their favorite costumes.

In loving memory of Allie, memorial donations may be directed to Blank Children’s Hospital – Child Life Department in honor of Allie Brooks.
