LeRoy Thompson

Leroy Thompson passed away June 17, 2018 at the age of 92. He was born on October 1, 1925 in Boone County, Iowa to Jasper W. Thompson and Ethel Elizabeth Rinker.

Leroy served in the United States Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. Because of his service, Leroy was able to attend the Honor Flight in 2010. Leroy also spent 10 years working in Security for Lewis Systems. In his free time, he was an animal lover and also enjoyed driving around in his car.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, his daughter, Louise Thompson, and his daughter-in-law, Sue Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife, Delores; children, David, Roger (Louella Ochoa), Tim (Marcy), and Mark (Julie) Thompson; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Leroy will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, on Thursday, June 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will also be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home on Friday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m. Leroy will be buried at Bass Point Cemetery following the memorial.
