Calvin Risius

Calvin Bradley Leroy Risius, age 2, passed away peacefully in his Mommy and Daddy’s arms on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Calvin was born October 30, 2015 in Des Moines, Iowa to Mackinzie Standlee-Campbell.

Calvin had a love of anything with a motor. He loved fixing things in the garage and playing with his remote control cars. His favorite things to play with were his “choo-choos”. He liked balloons and coloring. His dog, Hazel, was his best friend and she was very protective of him. Animals, especially dinosaurs, were some of the things he liked to collect. He couldn’t get enough of eating his favorite food, bananas, and would rarely leave the grocery store without his “nanas”.

Left to cherish his memory are his mommy, Mackinzie; his daddy, Dennis “Joker”; father, Matthew; siblings, Denver (Nick), Harli, Carsten, Charli, Barbi, Hensli, and Mattie; grandparents, Darin and Diana, Joe and Teresa, Julie Ann Risius, and Deb and Craig; aunts and uncles, Chad Sr., Tricia, Lindsey, Nicole, Dena, Christina, Jessica, Angela, Cody, Ashley, Brad (Kenzie), and Breanne (Marcus); along with many cousins, friends, and other family members.

Calvin was preceded in death by his grandpa, Von “Punk” Millard; and great grandparents, Peggy and Bill Hoffman, and Lula and Rex Standlee.

Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at Rising Sun Cemetery immediately following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Calvin.

A memorial motorcycle ride will take place Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. starting at Sudsuckers, 1511 Army Post Road, Des Moines. Immediately following the ride at 2:00 p.m. the family will host a fundraising benefit with dinner, also at Sudsuckers.
