Don Joseph Papian of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center on May 24, 2018.

Don was born March 18, 1929. He loved sports and played football for Dowling Catholic High School and played baseball for the St. Louis Browns. He was a big fan of Iowa and Notre Dame Football. Don was a veteran of the Korean War and during his travels with the military, he discovered the Amalfi Coast in Italy which gave him a peace that he only has now with his Lord and Savior. Don was a strong family man that always put God, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, and Mary Ann, his loving wife of sixty-five years as the foundation of his life.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Anna Papian, and his brother Lanny Papian.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann; his three children Don Papian Jr. (Kathleen), Joe (Roni) Papian, and Rae Ann (Charlie) Harris; grandchildren Justin (Becca) Papian and Jessica (Jason) Cowell. Don and Mary Ann also raised two of his grandchildren Melissa (Mike) O’Neal and Corey Papian from ages 2 and 5. Don is also survived by ten wonderful great-grandchildren; brother Michael (Janet) Papian and sister-in-law Rozanne Bordenaro Galligan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 29th from 12:00-2:00 PM at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa. Burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
