Larry Eugene Lesher, 71, died April 10, 2018 due to complications of Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s Disease at Sunny View Care Center.

Larry was born April 22, 1946 in Des Moines to Roscoe and Reva (Fackler) Lesher. He married Marsha Edgington on October 14, 1972 in Des Moines. They made their home on the Southside of Des Moines for 44 years before moving to Ankeny in 2016.

Larry was a 1965 graduate of Des Moines Technical High School. He served in the United States Army for six years, 1965 to 1968 in the 4th Armored Division, Battery B, 1st Battalion, 94th Artillery and from 1968 to 1971, Co. B, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry, 2nd Armored Division. He was the Motor Sergeant & Mechanic of Bravo Co. Motor pool. He retired from Ted’s Body Shop in 2011 where he did auto body work. He enjoyed playing on a pool league and car races. But most of all he enjoyed restoring cars from a 38 Chevy to his beloved 56 Chevy.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Marsha; daughters, Michelle (Bobby) Treaster and Jody Lesher; grandchildren, Brian, Devon, Daimean, Alex and Jordan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ted Sr.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, April 16th at the funeral home. Larry will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
