Jolon Rickabaugh Johnson of Las Vegas, NV passed away March 29, 2018, after a 10 month battle with ureter cancer. She was born October 1, 1939 in Des Moines, IA where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957. She attended the University of Iowa and Drake University. Jolon married her high school sweetheart, Larry Beaty Johnson, June 27, 1959. She worked as a legal secretary. The love of her life joined his father’s company, Ringland-Johnson Construction Company and was transferred to Clinton, Iowa where later in life Jolon became Corporation Secretary.

Jolon raised her family to love God, nature, camping and boating on the Mississippi River as much as she did. She became President of IA FWC, PTA, Jr. Achievement and a lifelong member of P.E.O. (a Philanthropic Educational Organization). She is a Rotary Club International Paul Harris “Fellow” and was named in the Outstanding Young Women of America. She served as residential chairman for United Way Fund drive. Jolon became a board member of United Way as well as the Clinton Symphony Orchestra board.

In 2000 Jolon and Larry retired to Las Vegas, NV where they continued to tent camp annually at Lake Tahoe and elsewhere. Jolon was a member of Mountain View Presbyterian Church, the Sun City Summerlin Musicmakers Chorale (for 16 years) and her very special sisters of P.E.O. Chapter Y. In August of 2012, an auditorium in a new addition to Rockford (IL) Christian High School was donated by our son’s family where a wall plaque reads “In Honor of Jolon and Larry B. Johnson”. God blessed Jolon by being survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Larry; three children, Brent Beaty Johnson (Lauren) of Rockford, IL, Tory L. Cooper of Las Vegas, NV and her twin brother Troy L. (Kimberly) of Rochester Hills, MI; six grandchildren, Michael Beaty, Logan, Landon, Lauren Ashley, Hannah, John-Paul, three greatgrandchildren and niece/nurse Stacey Siese.

Jolon will be laid to rest with a gravesite service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, Des Moines, IA with luncheon following across the street at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, IA.
