Janet Yori

Janet Lorraine (West) Yori, 71, left this life on Saturday, March 10, 2018, taking nothing with her. Janet’s wishes were to be cremated and to join her late husband, Larry Yori.

Janet was born July 3, 1946, in Burt, Iowa, the daughter of Gail and Hazel (Meier) West. In her life she had three children: son, Jeff Raymond (deceased), son, Larry Simmons, and daughter, Randi Burk, all of Des Moines. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene Donaldson of Des Moines, brother, Earl West (wife, Pat) of Pleasant Hill, brother, Mike West of Palm Springs, CA, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews, some calling her “Crazy” Aunt Janet.

She was a dedicated child care worker, serving families through Children and Families of Iowa for 14 years. She loved working and helping families. She and her husband loved dancing and gardening. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, yard sales, flea markets, and get-togethers with family and friends.

Janet wished to specifically thank her neighbors who helped her after her husband passed, and her family. According to Janet’s wishes, there will be no funeral services held.
