Dolores Nachtigal

Dolores Nachtigal, 83, passed away on March 9, 2018 at Edencrest at Riverwood in Des Moines. She was born in George, Iowa on August 9, 1934, to Henry and Marie Walter

Dolores graduated from Rock Rapids High School, after which in 1952 she married Bruce Nachtigal, her loving husband. She worked for Northwestern Bell in Rock Rapids, Sheldon and Des Moines where she retired in 1996.

Dolores enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and cooking. When preparing meals her motto was “the more the merrier.” She always put her family’s needs before her own. Dolores did not know a stranger and opened her home to everyone. Dolores was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny.

Those left to cherish her memories are her three children, Nancy (Nachtigal) Ennor of Sioux Falls, SD, Kevin Nachtigal of Ankeny and Brad (Kristy) of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, Russel (Susie), Travis, Jared, Brooke, Michael, Thomas (Jazel) and Brandon (Kyla); as well as six great-grandchildren, Payten, Jacob, Cameron, Tyler, Laylah and Avery. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
