Lois Benzshawel

Lois Benzshawel entered into new life on March 7, 2018 at Edgewater in West Des Moines, IA. She was born on Oct. 5, 1927 at the home of her parents Mary Irene Burich and John Jay Burretta. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. Lois married Norbert Charles Benzshawel on September 10, 1949, her loving husband for 55 years. Mr. Benzshawel passed away March 22nd, 2005 in Chattanooga, TN.
Lois valued people and developing relationships with everyone she met which is partly why she loved to travel, cook, and play cards. She was a nurturer of every living thing; plants grew in her care as did every person who crossed her path.
Lois will be greatly missed by her children, sons, David of Dallas, TX, and Jay (Ann) Benzshawel of West Des Moines, IA; and a daughter, Gina Marie (Scott) Harris of Richardson, TX; five grandchildren, J. Daniel (Allie) Benzshawel of Highland Beach, FL, John Addison Benzshawel of Iowa City, IA, Jeremy, Justin, and Jordan Harris, of Richardson TX; one sister, Adeline Matheys; three sisters- in-law, Ruth Buretta, Marlene Benzshawel of Appleton WI, and Barbara Benzshawel of Luxemburg, WI. She is also remembered and created fond memories with nieces and nephews and the many friends she made living in Manitowoc, WI, Greenbay, WI, Hutchinson, MN, Aberdene,SD, Haywarden, IA, Sheldon, IA, Burlington, IA, Clinton, IA, Hot Springs, AR, Salsbury, MD, Chattanooga, TN, and West Des Moines, IA.
Lois will be welcomed to her new life by an infant daughter, Karla Jeanne; her husband Norbert; parents Mary and John Baretta; brother Daniel and wife Eleanor; brother Victor; sister Elaine; brothers in-law Don Mathey, Henry Osesek, Dick Benzshawel, Don Benzshawel, and Gerald Benzshawel; and mother and father in-law Clara and Matthew Benzshawel.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Edgewater in West Des Moines, IA, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be said at The Chapel at the Mausoleum in Manitowoc, WI, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
