Marijo Scavo
February 23, 2018
Marijo (Zanter) Scavo passed peacefully on February 23, 2018.
Marijo was born in La Crosse, WI on May 31, 1941 and moved to Des Moines following her marriage to Vincent C. Scavo in August of 1962. The couple had 3 children. In addition to being a mother, Marijo’s professional career was as an X-ray technician. She enjoyed traveling with her friends from Wisconsin and her Southside pals. She traveled the world and was always planning her next adventure. Marijo spent time with her grandsons and enjoyed watching them grow up into fine young men.
Marijo was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Josephine; brothers Ken, Jim, Paul, and Joe and her husband Vincent. She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and her many friends.
We would like to send a special thanks to those who helped care for Marijo these past years; the love and compassion held for Marijo was both heartfelt and appreciated. Also, thank you to all who supported our family through this difficult time.
The family will greet friends Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary prayed at 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Private graveside services are planned for a later date.
Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I worked with her at DMU. I was a frequent flyer in radiology and she told me that I was going to glow in the dark! Really loved her sense of humor. She will be missed but we have another beautiful angel in Heaven. RIP

I will always remembered for her zest for life and laughter! Also, her kitties that I always had to catch if I wanted to take one home. And catch I did! It was always fun to go with my mom to her house. Praying for you all!
