Dennis Clifford Barnett

Dennis Clifford Barnett, 74, passed away January 6, 2018. Family will greet friends on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Military honors will be presented at 7:45 p.m.

Dennis was born June 19, 1943 in New Hampton, IA to Evelyn and Clifford Barnett. After graduation from high school, he joined the US Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home Dennis worked as a painter all of his life. He enjoyed guns and hunting and the outdoors in general. He valued time in his man cave garage but above all else – treasured time with his family. Dennis was a true witty Irishman with a generous heart and willing to give you the shirt off his back.

He is greatly missed by his wife of 30 years, Stephanie; daughters, Annie (Aaron) Kinkade and Katherine Barnett; son, Dave Goodwin; brother, Jim Barnett; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and many special friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his daughter, Shawna Smith; his parents; and infant brother, Pat; and sister, Peggy Schulz.
