Maxine A. (Monahan) Diers, 80, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2017, at her home in Des Moines. She was born May 14, 1937, in Van Meter, IA the daughter of Sam and Fern Monahan.
Maxine worked at Ardan’s for many years and retired from EMC National Life Insurance Company as a life insurance processor. She enjoyed camping, fishing, quilting, and puzzles.
Maxine is survived by her husband of 62 years, L. Fred Diers; children, Peggy (Paul Poole) Hobbs, Cathy (Larry) Wehrman, Darryl (Jeanne) Diers, Joe (Lisa) Diers, and Kristy (Brian) Kelderman; 11 grandchildren, Brad Weir, Christa (Tim) Pansegrau, Amy Weir, Ryan (Jane) Wehrman, Dan (Jenna) Wehrman, Molly (Doug) Borud, Amanda (Curtis) Thompson, Nick Diers, Jenna (Travis) Hunt, Katie Kelderman, and Keri Kelderman;12 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her brother, James (Lois) Monahan; and a host of other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, two half-sisters, and one half-brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines with burial at Wallace Cemetery, 1270 33rd Ave. in Cool, IA. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.

My condolences to the (Monahan) Diers families and friends. It is a painful thing to lose a precious love one in death, regardless of how long they have lived. Even Jesus wept when Lazarus died at John chapter 11 verse 35 and it pains our loving Heavenly Father, too. He did not purpose his human family to grow old and die but purpose us to live and enjoy life. It is still his purpose, shown at Psalms chapter 37 verses 11and 29. He calls death an enemy that will be removed forever, shown at 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verse 26 and Isaiah chapter 25 verse 8. He promised to awaken our love ones in the memorial tombs from asleep in death at Isaiah chapter 26 verse19 says that our dead love ones will rise and shout joyfully. It says that the earth will let those powerless in death come to life.The Bible says that our Creator will then reverse the aging process shown at Job chapter 33 verses 24 and 25. It says that one's flesh will become fresher than in youth. One will return to the days of his youthful vigor. What a delight it will be to see them again to enjoy life as our Creator purposed shown at Psalms chapter 145 verse 16. Allow these words to keep comforting all of you.
