Douglas McVey

Des Moines

Douglas McVey was born April 24, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Herman “Gordon” and Mary (Cram) McVey. He passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Douglas attended East High School in Des Moines and Job Corps in South Dakota. He was employed at Hammer Medical Supply and retired from Heartland AEA11.

Douglas married his first wife Debbie and to this union one daughter was born, Heidi (Feims). His second marriage was to Rhonda (Webber) on June 14, 1993. In addition to his wife, Rhonda and daughter, Heidi, Douglas is survived by five grandchildren, three adopted grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-sons, five step-grandchildren, brothers, Ron (Lonnie) McVey and Brad (Conny) McVey, four nephews, three nieces and many great-nieces and nephews.

Douglas’s hobbies included watching horse races and playing slot machines, fishing, drawing and painting. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and going to old car shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery after the services.
