JoAn Ladd was born March 11, 1931, in Winterset, Iowa. Her greatest pleasure in life was making other people happy. She was known for her generosity and her giving nature. JoAn was always looking out for others before herself. Although she was very stubborn and set in her ways, she had a heart of gold. JoAn enjoyed going to flea markets, buying beads off the Liquidation Channel and making jewelry with them. She will be fondly remembered for her love of her tinted lipsticks, coffee and HoneyBuns.

JoAn passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 86.

She is survived by her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amber and Tim Barron; great-granddaughter and her significant other, Miranda Barron and Tommy Sweet; daughter, Diana Ladd; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Shannon and Dan Sutter; brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Kathy Ladd; sister, Donna Flinn; special family, Charlie and Kathy Young and their dog, Bam Bam; special friend and awesome neighbor, Sue; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other loving relatives and many special friends.

JoAn was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Charlotte Ladd; brothers, Bob, Richard and Bill Ladd; and her sister, Julia Kauffman.

There will be a Celebration of Life Friday, November 17, 2017, at Highland Park Christian Church, 4260 NW 6th Drive, Des Moines from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of JoAn.
