I met Doug while working at GT, but I would bump into him at various establishments on Ingersoll. I admired how he was always sharply dressed, always wearing a tailored blazer. Doug was a lovely man and a great conversationalist. His eyes lit up whenever he discussed baseball or music, and he was always in a great mood. May you find some peace knowing that Doug made many people smile.

I enjoyed many lunchtime conversations with Doug at Wellman"s Pub. Topics ranged from politics to popular culture but the primary one was baseball. I still have and still wear t-shirts he gave me featuring Satchel Paige, Casey Stengel & Babe Ruth. They are quite old but apparently as durable as the words & images Doug emblazoned on them at Van Ginkel's. They will always remind me of him, fondly. May he rest in peace...MW

So sorry to hear about Doug's passing. For awhile Doug worked just down the block from the WHO TV and Radio studios in Des Moines where I worked. We'd run into each other from time to time. His father worked near my parent's bakery in Blue Earth and we spent a lot of time together after school. My prayers are with all of you who loved him.
