Bessie Leona Money

Bessie Leona Money, 96, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines on October 20, 2017. She was born October 10, 1921 to Charles Everett and Myrtle Nichols. She went to be with the Lord with closure in her life after a long struggle with Alzheimers, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 26th, at Celebration Church Iowa, 6204 SW 9th St., followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Bessie’s passions in life were her grandchildren, children, and living for Jesus. She loved to play ball, have picnics and family get-togethers. She was very compassionate and the glory of her love was contributed to her generosity to others. She was very proud to be a Christian.

She is survived by her seven children – sons, John, Charles and Barney; daughters, Leotus, Betty, Diane and Joann who was the blessed caregiver the last 11 years and so was Betty. Bessie has 28 grandchildren; 74 great grandchildren; and 64 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John in January of 1979. Bessie never remarried. She was a charter member of the Church of God of Prophecy for 77 years. She is loved and cherished forever and will be greatly missed by us all.
