Aleen Joyce (Tish) Boese was born August 14, 1926, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Reuel and Florence (Baltzley) Tish. She attended school for a time in Grinnell and graduated from Johnston High School in St. Paul, MN in 1944. She enrolled in the Nurses Corps in 1944 and worked as a LPN for 30 years, retiring in 1986. Her employment included 15 years at Mercy Hospital in the ICU Department and 15 years at Des Moines General Hospital in the ICU Department.

Aleen enjoyed her family above all else. She liked bowling, her cats, and her lodge work. She was Past Noble Grand of Golden Star Rebekah Lodge #352 and a 60+ year member; Past Grand Matriarch of the Grand Ladies Encampment Auxiliary of Iowa; Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant of Iowa; Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile; Worthy High Priestess of Mount Olivet #2 White Shrine, initiated in 1963 and received her 50 year pin in 2013; member of the Eastern Star; member of VFW Auxiliary Post #738 American Legion – Baldwin Patterson Post; and Past President of Women’s Relief Corps.

Aleen passed away peacefully Monday, October 16, 2017, at the age of 91.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 23, 2017, at Capitol Hill Christian Church, 3322 E 25th St, where Aleen was a faithful participant. She will be buried at Scotch Ridge Cemetery in Carlisle, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.

Aleen is survived by her daughters, Linda J. (Dennis) Capps and Diane L. Beckwith; son, Ray (Margie) Boese; grandchildren, Sandra (Donnie) Derry and Daniel Worthington; great-grandchildren, Brandon Derry and Alicia Derry; brothers, Samuel Tish, Neal Tish, Jerry Tish and Ronald Tish; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Boese, her parents, and her grandson, Brian Boese.
