George Conway

George C. Conway, 86, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. George was born on November 7, 1930 in Melrose, Iowa to Michael and Hanna (Hannam) Conway.
George married Jennie Rita Loffredo on November 22, 1953, and together they were blessed with five children. George was one of the first real estate developers at Lake Rathbun. He was also the President and CEO of a securities investment firm as well as the founder of Conway Appraisal Service. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Izaak Walton League. George was a devout Catholic, a wonderful dedicated family man and a fiercely loyal friend. He made it his mission to never miss a celebration or life event when it came to family and friends. George also loved to travel and will be remembered as a fun loving Irishman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jennie; children, J.J. (Michelle), Sheri (Marc) Sirios, Steve (Lori), George, Dan (Karma); sister, Dolores McDowell; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a 5th generation grandson; together with an enormous number of extended family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry, Donald, John, James, Charles and Harold and his sisters, Mary Sullivan, Ellen Scott, Marjorie Graham and Cecelia Paasch.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road in Des Moines. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 21st from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. He will be laid to rest following the Mass at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church, the American Diabetes Association or the Arthritis Foundation in loving memory of George.

Dear Conway Family,
I was so saddened when I read of George's passing in the newspaper this past week. I am very sorry for this great loss. George was always such a kind man and I know he will be greatly missed by everyone. I've lost track of you Steve and Sheri over the years but please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. Dear friends, sorry I could not be there for any services, I had similar commitments for those times. I remember George and all you kids from years past and George was always so supportive of all of you. I will remember him and all of you at mass.

I worked with George years ago..a true gentlemen. I remember loaning him my camera to take to St. Patrick's, Cummings for the Pope Visitation. When he handed it back to me he informed me it had been blessed by the Pope....I still have your speg. sauce recipe Jennie. Prayers for you all.....
