Susan "Sue" Parrish

Susan “Sue” Leah Parrish, 73 of Urbandale, passed away on August 8, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA. Sue was born January 16, 1944, in Des Moines, to John and Doris Walters.

Sue loved spending time with her family and cherished her granddaughters and great-grandson. She will be greatly missed, especially by her husband Jim.

Sue is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jim Parrish of Urbandale; son, Jim (Shannon) Parrish of Urbandale and their daughter, Rhiannon (Daniel) Nguyen of Des Moines; daughter, Lisa Guthrie of Urbandale and her daughters, Jill Guthrie of Long Beach, CA and Danielle Guthrie of Princeton, MN, and great-grandson, Ahbah Ende also of Princeton, MN; daughter, Kelly Parrish of Des Moines; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters, a brother, and her parents.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 13th at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, August 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

A celebration of life luncheon will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens following the graveside service.
