Samuel McGruder, age 56, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Altoona Nursing & Rehab. He was born the son of Harry and Marie McGruder on April 4, 1961 in Macon, Missouri.

He is survived by his father, Harry McGruder; children, LeChay, Jovon, Dominic, Morion, and Mandasha; adopted daughter, Shirliesha; siblings, Brian and Chris McGruder; grandmother, Marjorie Lampkin; aunts, Linda Winters, Marcella Head, Gloria Tolson, and Carol McGruder; uncles, Damon Head and Weldon McGruder; and step-mother, Mary McGruder.

Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Damita; mother, Marie; and brother, Curly.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Inurnment will follow services at Glendale Cemetery.
