June Ann Myers, 87, was born on July 10, 1930 in Santa Rosa, CA. to Anna (Parsons) and George Harvey. She passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Calvin Community on Hickman in Des Moines. In 1938, when June was 8 years old the family moved back to Iowa. She attended school in Des Moines. In 1948 she graduated from the old North High School.

June went to work at Electric Engineering & Equipment Co. where she met her future husband, Donald Myers. They were married on April 7, 1950. Donald was called back in the Navy for the Korean War in August 1950. He was stationed in Great Lakes Navy Station and June joined him there. When there, June worked for the Navy in administration.

They came home in June of 1952, bought a house and started a family. Five children were born within the next ten years. June was a stay at home mom with many talents. She was a seamstress and made the girls many clothes. She was a 60 years plus member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.

While the children were growing up the family did a lot of traveling and camping. They built a home on Lake Panorama in 1979 and spent the next 35 years enjoying it.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Family will greet visitors on Monday starting at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.

Those left to mourn her passing are her loving husband, Don; children, Pam (John) Payne of Euless, TX., Cynthia (Jeff) Lyon of Waxahachie, TX., Lori Schuster of Urbandale, IA., Randall (Carmen) Myers of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. And Douglas (Leslie) Myers of California; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other family and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, George Harvey.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, Calvin Community on Hickman Road and/or the Epilepsy Foundation in memory of June.
