Phyllis Diane Gilliam
Of Des Moines, Iowa
Phyllis Gilliam, age 69, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 16, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Phyllis enjoyed going to the casino, watching stock car racing, and NASCAR. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jack; children, Jack (Tina) Gilliam II and Larry (Teresa) Gilliam; grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Niki, and JD; great-grandchildren, Vido, Hudson, Vini, and Sonny; brothers, Larry Freel and Jack (Tanna) Freel; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Helen Freel.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, July 24th, also at the funeral home followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Unity Point Hospice Home Care in loving memory of Phyllis.

I am so very very sorry for your loss. She was such a special lady. Always enjoyed talking to her when she called the union hall. I remember her from Lincoln too - she was my locker mate for awhile. What a small world.
