Donald Bradley Russell, 71, of Des Moines passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2017 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

Don was born June 22, 1946 in Bottineau, North Dakota to Richard and Dorothy (Post) Russell. He moved to Des Moines in 1972 after graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota. During his career, Don worked for Chaplin Petroleum, FMC Corp., and retired as a field auditor for Bank of America. Following his retirement, Don worked part-time at the Polk County Election Office for more than a decade.

Don is survived by his wife, Gina (Sarcone) Russell and his faithful companion, Echo. In addition, he will be lovingly remembered by three brothers, Stanley, Gordon, and Paul (Mary); sister-in-law, Sara Kern (Mike); brother-in-law, Frank Sarcone (Pat); three nieces, seven nephews, and seven grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
