Mark A. Mettler, the son of Walter K. and Lois Jean (Stamper) Mettler, was born December 23, 1955, at Skiff Hospital in Newton, Iowa. In 1975, he graduated from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Mark was united in marriage to Christine Jerome on February 14, 1981, in Polk County, Iowa and separated in 1988. He worked for Beacon Van Lines, Reliable Maintenance at AT&T, the Kaleidoscope, and Methodist Hospital. Mark was baptized and confirmed at Unity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his collection of LP albums, his pets, and playing billiards.

Mark died at the age of 61 on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Neuro Restorative in Carbondale, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Jean Mettler.

Mark is survived by his two sons, Noah and Elijah, two daughters, Sarah and Jasmine, all from Washington, and one granddaughter. He is also survived by his father, Walter Mettler and brother, Erick (Deanna) Mettler of Des Moines and his nephews, niece, cousins, and extended family and friends.

There will be a memorial service at 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church, 3100 Easton Blvd, Des Moines, IA 50317. There will be a reception following the service. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
