Gertrude "Trudy" Sloan

Gertrude E. “Trudy” Sloan, age 82, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Trudy was born April 21, 1935, to Jessie and Ora (Green) Parr. She treasured her family and dear friends at the Cottages and enjoyed traveling, quilting and cooking.

Trudy is survived by her children, Carolyn (David) Byrkett, Sharon Walker, Shirley (Kenny) Grandstaff and Craig (Joan) Cram; sister, Annie Parr; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Sloan and her son-in-law, Jim Walker.

Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by funeral service at 2:30 p.m., Friday, July 21, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Cremation will follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
