Surrounded by family and friends, Virginia ”Ginger” Ann (Grover) Sucich of Adel, Iowa lost her battle with cancer on July 15th, 2017. Ginger was being cared for at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Ginger was born on February 2, 1944. She was the 3rd born of 4 children growing up on a farm in Lime Springs, Iowa. Ginger graduated from high school in Cresco, Iowa. She then attended Iowa State University and Drake University, studying accounting and journalism. Ginger worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for several Des Moines companies while raising her family. She then became a financial advisor for Principal Financial. Later she became owner of Plasti-Pak in Des Moines, Iowa until her retirement.

Ginger raised horses and alpaca on her farm outside of Adel. She enjoyed many other hobbies; weaving, photography, puzzles and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her sons, Paul (Mary) Sucich of Clive, Iowa and Christopher Sucich of Bozeman, Montana; and grandchildren, Daniel, Emilie and Grace Sucich. She also leaves behind stepchildren, Craig Nims of Adel, Iowa, Rebecca (David) Merritt of Grimes, Iowa, Stephanie (Brian) Main of Johnston, Iowa, Stacy Hurst of Ankeny; step-grandchildren, Matthew Merritt, Jessica, Taylor and Jacob Main, Morghan and Mason Hurst. Ginger is also survived by siblings, Jane Hale of Faribault, Minnesota, Jim (Marion) Grover of Hudson, Iowa and Winky (Mark) Reis of Cresco, Iowa and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ginger is preceded in death by her husband, Ron Nims, her parents Paul and Margrette Grover of Cresco, Iowa and brother-in-law Jim Hale of Faribault, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 19th, 2017 at 5.00 to 7.00 pm. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 20th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa. A dessert reception will immediately follow services at 3 p.m. in the Bridge at Lutheran Church of Hope. Family and friends are all welcome.
