Dorothy Irene (Wade) Mason

Dorothy Irene (Wade) Mason was born on October 16, 1925 to John Wesley Wade and Audie Leticia (Gregory) Wade in Weldon, Iowa. Her time on this earth ended on June 14, 2017. She was the youngest and last remaining daughter of John and Audie Wade.

Dorothy was a graduate of Osceola High School in the class of 1944. After high school she went to work for Snowdon’s sewing factory in Osceola. She met her future husband, Ivyl Dwight (Doc) Mason at a dance. They eventually married on November 19, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Victor, IA. From this union were two daughters. Diane born September 28, 1950 and Karen born March 15, 1953. The majority of her life was spent in Des Moines in the community of Norwoodville. She was a home maker and loved to talk on the phone with the neighbors. She never met a stranger. She moved to Sapulpa, OK in September, 2012 to be near her daughter Karen and family after her daughter Diane passed away.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivyl; daughter, Diane; five sisters, Helen Woods, Marie VanScoy, Nora Hein, Frances Ellis and Georgia Wade.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Williams and husband Tim of Sapulpa, OK; granddaughter, Katy Jimenez and two great grandchildren, Maisen and Max of Tulsa, OK; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 prior to the service. There will be no graveside portion to the service.
