Service Details

Enid was born near Runnells, Iowa, at the family farm March 21, 1919. She grew up with her mother and father Lilly and Olin Warren, brother Gordon, and sisters Venus and Juanita, all deceased.

She attended Runnells High School. Through friends, she was introduced to her future husband of 70 years, Lawrence Leonard Haws (deceased). Married in 1935, they raised 3 sons, Kelly (Debbie), Pat (Carolyn), and Mike (Joyce).

First and foremost in her life was her family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Enid loved sewing and knitting. She made many items for her family and was very good at it. Cooking was another aspect in her life that she excelled in. Her “homemade chicken and noodles” were legendary. Later in life she received her license in cosmetology.

Enid was a dairy farmer’s wife and yet found time to be an artist. Social activities included “500 card club” for 40 years, square dancing, teaching Sunday school, serving lunch at the Fernand School and traveling abroad.

She was a kind, courteous wife and parent. Enid had a good long life, but will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her sons, she leaves behind a sister-in-law, Agnes; daughter-in-law, Donna; 11 grandchildren, Danny (Sharon), David, Deedee, Brenda, JoLee (Royce), Matt, Marni (Erik), Rodney (Lisa), Jim (Shelly), Debbie, and Jodi; 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Enid was preceded in death by her infant granddaughter, Audrey, and daughter-in-law, Joyce.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, with visitation one hour prior to service time, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Burial will be held at Powers-Warren Cemetery in Adelphi, Iowa.
