Service Details

Carl Lee Loft
Ankeny

Jesus and Carl walked together for many years when on one of their walks, Jesus asked Carl to come to His house for a while. There he was greeted by his loving dogs, Angel, Hobo, Dixie and Chewy who had gone on before him. Also there to greet him were his parents, Curtis and Delores, other family members and friends who had gone on before.

On Thursday, April 13, 2017, Carl went home to be with Jesus, whom he counted as his closest and dearest friend all during his life. He also got his fondest wish granted that day when he was able to tell his Heavenly Father face to face, “Thanks for not giving up on me!”

Carl and Janice have been members of Sunshine Open Bible Church since 2009. He was an incredibly talented musician and was on many worship teams where he enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica. There really wasn’t an instrument Carl didn’t play! He had such a zest for life and truly lived each and everyday to its fullest. Carl lived to find a way to somehow impact others around him either it be a look or phrase he knew he could always get a smile out of anyone.

Carl “Arkansas Traveler”, age 64, was born July 8, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri to Curtis and Delores (Holt) Loft. He is survived by his wife, Janice, children, Steven (Ruth) Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Melissa Stender, Annie Johnson and Heather Loft, grandchildren, Andraya Stender (Tyler Snavely), Andrew Stender, Aaric (Julia) Stender, Bryttany Dove, Joe Brown, James (Katie) Brown, Josh Brown, Daniel Johnson, and Kayla Wearmouth; great-grandchildren, Quinn Rose Stender, Rowan Stender, and Ash Stender.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at Sunshine Open Bible Church, 2130 Easton Blvd, Des Moines at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
