Rose Marie Fleming, born Rose Marie Jeffryes, on June 27, 1936 in Winterset, Iowa to Arthur and Nellie Jeffryes, to a family of 11 children. Rose died of complications of Alzheimer's at Legacy Nursing care in Waukee, Iowa on March 28, 2017 at the age of 80.

Rose graduated from East High School in 1954 and went on to marry the love of her life, Benjamin Leonard Fleming on August 7, 1954. She retired from American Republic where she worked for 25 years.

In her early years, Rose loved traveling with her family, camping and being assistant coach to her children's sports teams. She and Ben enjoyed doing ceramics together. Rose enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, pulling weeds and picking up sticks. She loved ice cream, fudge, doing puzzles and family traditions. Above everything, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rose had the most generous loving heart, always putting her loved ones before herself without a moment’s hesitation. Her bright smile, kind heart and contagious laughter will be missed.

Rose is survived by her children: Randy (Chris) Fleming, Teri (Terry Bonik) Fleming, and Julie Brown; grandchildren: Nicole, Michalle, Missi, Matt, Bryce, Katelyn and Ronnie; great-grandchildren: Ben, Alexis, Tyler, Landon, Payton, Jacob and Hayden; sisters: Lenita Goodman and Dorothy Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Benjamin Leonard Fleming; parents, Arthur and Nellie Jeffryes; brothers: Lloyd, Bernard and Leonard Jeffryes; and sisters: Mary Johnson, Geraldine Shaw and Betty Classen.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 1, also at the funeral home, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Iowa Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association or to Suncrest Hospice.
