Helen Hoagland

Helen Hoagland, formerly of Mendham, NJ passed away March 13, 2017, at her home in Altoona, Iowa. She was born August 5, 1939, to Herbert and Evelyn Soberberg in Chicago, Illinois.

Helen was a woman of faith and a devoted member of Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church in Altoona. She loved volunteering at church, listening to music, spoiling her dogs, and spending time with her husband.

Helen is survived by her husband, Rick of Altoona, IA; children, Michael O’Connor of Ledgewood, NJ, Maureen O’Connor of Morristown, NJ, Kathleen (Nicholas) O’Connor of London, UK, and Kevin (Kristin) O’Connor of Concord, NH; as well as her grandchildren, Catherine, Elise, Robert and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue South in Altoona, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, 5452 NE 22nd Street, Des Moines, IA 50313.
