Louise Jacobsen

Louise Mae Jacobsen, 95, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born June 11, 1921 in Kansas City, Kansas to Louis and Mae (Sullivan) Vining.

Louise was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and Eastern Star. On March 10, 1942 (75 years to the day of her passing), Louise attended a dance with her sorority for soldiers. It was here that she met Fred Jacobsen. They were eventually married and enjoyed a beautiful life together until Fred’s death in 1994. Louise went to work at her beloved Artistic Manufacturing in Altoona. She was with the company for 42 years and truly viewed her coworkers as family.

She is survived by her children, Fred (Karen) Jacobsen, Craig Jacobsen and Lynn Johnson; grandchildren, Tony (Christina), Brian (Lisa), Chad (Meriel) and Ashley (Shawn); 6 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and brother, Louis (Betty) Vining.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; sisters, Mary Jane and Alberta; and her parents.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Altoona Cemetery.
