Shirley Alice Allen Price

Shirley Alice Allen Price, 82, born May 6, 1934, and passed away March 4, 2017. She died with a broken heart after the death of her son, Jeff on November 28, 2003.

Shirley was born on the farm near Bagley, Iowa. She attended country school through the 8th grade at Greenbriar #9, Greene County, Bagley, Iowa. She then went to Bayard High School, graduating in 1952. Shirley attended Iowa School of Beauty and was a licensed Cosmetologist for 26 years, working in Boone, Ames and Des Moines. She later worked for the State of Iowa and the VA Medical Center. After retirement Shirley worked part time at Zena’s in Altoona.

She enjoyed traveling, visiting Jeff when he was in the military stationed in Korea, going with family and friends to Austria, Switzerland and other countries. Shirley enjoyed Yellowstone National Park, traveling throughout the United States, and watching baseball games (little league and professional). She also cheered on the Hawkeyes, Cyclones and the Chicago Cubs.

Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Jeff; parents, Obe and Mary Allen; sisters, Fern Allen, Doris Corsaut and Lorna Palmer; brother in-laws, Delbert “Hap” Palmer and Emery Eckhart; great-nephew, Brian Palmer; and niece, Raynette Corsaut.

Shirley is survived by her sister, June Eckhart; brother, Keith (Sharon) Allen; brother-in-law, Charles Corsaut; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; the Farrell Five; many other extended family members, as well as a host of dear friends.

Graveside services will be held on her birthday, May 6, 2017, 10:30 a.m., at Richland Cemetery in Bagley, Iowa.

Shirley requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation.
